How to make homemade black soap

Now that we know some of the benefits of this natural product for the skin, below we will explain how to make homemade black soap with a simple step-by-step.

However, before we begin to tell you how to make Arabic, Moroccan or African black soap, we take this opportunity to remind you that before you begin, make sure you have the following ingredients at home:

Ingredients

  • 120 grams of organic potash (it is an ash made from different sources such as clay, cocoa or other natural ingredients).
  • 780 ml of distilled water.
  • 120 ml of coconut oil.
  • 120 ml of castor oil.

Process

  1. Put on some plastic gloves and add 120 grams of organic potash to a pot with 600 ml of warm distilled water. Now put the heat on high for a couple of minutes until the mixture starts to boil.
  2. When the water reaches its boiling point, you will have to heat the mixture over medium heat for about half an hour until you notice that the potash is quite solid and hardened. It is important that during the process you stir the mixture from time to time so that the potash does not overflow or stick to the bottom of the container.
  3. Once the potash has a fairly thick texture, remove the pot from the heat and allow the base you just created to cool slightly.
  4. Now you have to add the coconut oil together with the castor oil in another pot and heat them over low heat until the coconut ends up melting and mixes with the other. Stir the mixture frequently during the process so that they dissolve well.
  5. While the oils are mixing, you will have to put a third pot over low heat with 70 grams of the potash base that you made in the previous steps along with 180 ml of distilled water. Let the pot heat for 5-10 minutes until the base has dissolved into the water.
  6. Now you will have to add the potash base dissolved in the pot where the two oils were being heated and stir the ingredients so that they are well mixed.
  7. Once the mixture is very thick, remove it from the heat, let it cool slightly and then pour the mixture into a mold to make artisan soaps. You will have to let it cool until it is completely solidified.
  8. Then take the soap out of the mold and cut it into smaller pieces. You will have your homemade black soap ready.

How to use homemade black soap

Now that you have the black or Arabic soap ready, all you have to do is know how to use black soap correctly. To do this, you can follow these simple steps:

  1. First of all, clean your face well of dirt and makeup and then rinse it with plenty of warm water to open the pores of the skin. If you are going to apply it all over your body, we recommend that you do the same, first take a normal shower to remove any possible traces of creams if you have used them previously, otherwise it is not necessary.
  2. Cut a bit of homemade black soap, or if it is not very solid you will not need to cut and just with your fingers you will be able to take a little, and now wet it with warm water.
  3. When the soap has made a little foam, apply it all over the face or the part of the body you want to treat, rubbing it gently in circular movements.
  4. Let it act on your skin for a few minutes and then rinse again with plenty of warm water.
  5. Finally, dry your face by gently patting it with the help of a towel, without rubbing.
  6. Save the soap to use it at other times.
